RPMT topper bags eight spot in AIPMT

JAIPUR: Mridul Rathi, a native of Kishangarh, has brought laurels to the marble town twice in the last two days. After bagging the first position in Rajasthan Pre Medical Test (RPMT), Rathi has grabbed the 8th all-India position in AIPMT, the result of which was announced on Saturday.

After his RPMT results, he was keen on joining SMS Medical College but has now decided to seek admission in country's topmost Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi. He drew inspiration from his doctor parents -Dr Sanjay Rathi and Dr Manju Rathi-who run a private hospital in Kishangarh.

Planning to become a cardiac surgeon, Mridul has planned to open a cardiology research centre in Kishangarh. Like all-India second rank holder from Kota, Shreyasi Manishkumar Shah, Rathi also believes that due to changing lifestyle, heart problems will be a major problem in coming years. "This is a major cause of death in our country and is eating away our human resource. I wish to do research in this field to lower the risk of heart diseases," said Rathi.

He has decided to serve the people of his town by joining his parents' hospital. "My dream is to give the best medicare to people here. I have seen how in want of specialized doctors patients here were referred to either Jaipur or Ajmer. I promised my parents even before I appeared in this exam that I will neither move to any bigger city or abroad to practice," he said.

He has been a meritorious student of KD Jain Public School in Kishangarh.
